Ingredients

  • 6 oz white fish fillet (such as cod or haddock)
  • 1 large potato, cut into thick fries
  • 1/4 cup plain flour
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • Cooking oil for frying
  • 1 cup cooked green peas
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • Salt and vinegar to taste

Preparation

  1. Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C).

  4. Meanwhile, heat cooking oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Fry breaded fish fillet until golden brown and cooked through, about 4-5 minutes per side.
  5. In a saucepan, heat cooked green peas with butter until warmed through. Mash lightly with a fork.
  6. Serve fish and chips with mushy peas, and sprinkle with salt and vinegar for an authentic British meal experience.
